NUC Lauds Jonathan over funding tertiary education

The Executive Secretary,National Universities Commission,NUC,Professor Julius Okojie yesterday disclose that the nation's education sector especially the tertiary sub-sector,has enjoyed greater fundings under this administration in the last three years.

Professor Okojie,who made the remarks while speaking in Abuja said the education system had recorded tremendous development and growth during the period under review because of the committment of the present adminstration,led by President Goodluck Jonathan towards funding it.

He said:"it is only recently,in the past two,three years,particularly,this one last year during the regime of President Ebele Jonathan that we have put the thumb on the press button for a way forward to education.

"You will recall that we havd the education summit.That sum mit examined all the issues that are involved at all levels of education. And for the first time we had a president who sort out time for two day to chat with the cross section of the stake-holders.And i must say as a result of that summit,so many things have started happening.

"With the positive review and redirection of the objective of the Education Trust Fund,ETF, there is greater and more efficient funding of tertiary education in this country.

Man nabbed for alleged murder of sister.

Emotion ran high yesterday at the Oduduwa,Ikeja office at the Lagos state Police Public Relation Officer,when a man gave a startling revelation of how he hacked his sister in the middle of the night.

The suspect Ndifereke Micheal Thompson,told a bewildered crowd that his younger sister was fast asleep when he snuffed life out of her in their one-room apartment in Ajose Maryland area of Lagos.

Although he could not give a substantial reason why he took the devilish act,report said when the area was thrown into confusion when the victim,Loveth,was found in the pool of blood.She was reportedly rushed to the hospital where she unfortunately breathed her last.

Unknown to him,some of tenants had sighted him dashed out of the apartment in a questionable manner.They were said to have alerted the police.He was later arrested by the police men attached to the Anthony division,where he confessed to the crime.

The 24 year old Akwa-Ibom born told journalist that he was under the influence of a demonic manipulative force.

But spokesman for the command,Mr Samuel Jinadu said his claim was no excuse under the law,informing that he would be charged to court.

The September 11 Attack On The New York World Trade Centre.

September 11 is a day of agony for the United State Of America.When two planes crashed into New York's World Trade Centre and which claimed lot of lives.

In the days following 9/11,more than 1200 men of foreign origin in the US were illegally abducted,detained and tortured for as long as 3 years.

The government did not find evidence linking a single one of them to the 9/11 attack.Eventually,more than 1000 were released.
To this date,most of them suffer from depression and stress and have not been able to focus enough to hold a job,this occurrence changed their lives forever.
In june 2006,President George.W.Bush said 'I have never ordered torture.I will never order torture.The values of this country are such that tortures is not a part of our soul and our being'.
On the 22nd of January 2009.Just two days after being sworn in as the new President of the United States of America.Barack Obama signed an order to shut down the infamous symbol of detention and torture.Guantanamo Bay.
May those that lost their lives in the 9/11 attack rest in perfect peace.
